RELAX A WRINKLE? ABSOLUTELY!
Wrinkles and frown lines are comprehensively treated with quick-acting injectables, known as botulinum toxin neuromodulators. Since that is such a mouthful to say, let’s just call them wrinkle relaxers. Currently, there are three such products on the market, and Dr. Fitzgerald is very experienced in the use of all three and the nuanced differences in results that she can achieve with each of them.
Because there are different causes of wrinkles, we need different solutions. The first wrinkle relaxer, Botox, led the way to a larger family of wrinkle relaxers that can target both deeper wrinkles and the finer ones.
Botox – Not only just for frown and worry lines, Botox can now manage some surprisingly heretofore difficult problems related to muscle contraction. Reshape a square jaw, lift mouth corners, droopy brows and drop that encroaching “witches chin”.
Dysport – An equally able frown relaxer, Dysport has some additional diffusing effect that makes it work well for removing fine crinkly lines like crow’s feet.
Xeomin – The newest wrinkle smoother to date, Xeomin functions very similarly to Botox and Dysport but is referred to as “naked” in that is does not contain a specific protein that can sometimes result in resistance to the other neuroproteins.
